A thriving, sustaining art group has rooted itself in the Valley! This brief documentary features inmate artists and their teaching artists: Augustin Lira, Patricia Solarzano Wells, Marsha Jones, Marqus Jones, Michael McCarty, in collaboration with Fresno Arts Council, Alliance for Cultural and Traditional Arts and William James Association’s Prison Arts Project.
Arts in Corrections is a partnership of the California Arts Council and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Special thanks to the above, as well as to all these men who show up, open up, and create art, music and stories that are meaningful, powerful and beautiful inside the stark environment of prison. Bloom where you’re planted!
